Special Needs Children's Book - WHO WE ARE

The team bringing you the inclusive children's book about special needs

RocketChair Productions

We're on a mission to change the world one child, one book, one snuggle at a time.

elevator pitch 2.jpg

We do this by creating fun, vibrant children's books like Meet ClaraBelle Blue, that highlight the joy of inclusive play, and developing inclusive children's television programming. We also support programs that help create a vibrant childhood for children with disabilities.

We believe that inclusion is a universal concept, and when you include everyone, EVERYONE wins. We will never stop working in the name of inclusion and visibility because inclusion simply can't wait.

MEET OUR FOUNDER: ADIBA NELSON

Adiba Nelson is mom to her daughter Emory (the inspiration for "Meet ClaraBelle Blue"), an award-winning best-selling author, freelance journalist, and inspirational keynote speaker. Her work has been featured in Ravishly, Huffington Post, Washington Post, Parents (all verticals), Your Tango, and more!

She wrote "Meet ClaraBelle Blue", based loosely on her own daughter after becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of representation of disabled children, specifically disabled children of color in children's books. After being rejected by numerous literary agents for the content (inclusion) being "too niche", Adiba decided to self-publish the book, and the book that nobody wanted is now in 19 countries, in two languages, and has sold over 7,000 copies.

Adiba travels the country leading workshops and speaking at conferences about her life as the parent of a disabled child, the importance of inclusion and accessibility for the disabled community, and consulting with organizations and schools on disability accessibility.
