Gave away the last book to a sweet family on my @southwestair flight 1971. One little guy wasn't feeling well and the other was just cuddling into his mama. It's HARD traveling with kiddos, so something shiny and new always helps. I can hear them reading it together behind me, and one little guy giggling. My heart is full. Inclusion spreads. And yes, a little bit of good goes a long way. Happy MLK day, folks. ❤, Adiba
Hey hey @pikespeaklibrarydistrict ! Thanks so much for letting us donate a copy of children's book "Meet ClaraBelle Blue" to the children's section of Library 21c! We hope your kiddos love it!
It only makes sense that when you're flying the friendly skies with @southwestair , you leave behind a sweet story of friendship (and inclusion). Some lucky duck is finding their own autographed copy of Meet ClaraBelle Blue today! I wonder who found it??
Have you guys heard of the RAD PARENTING podcast (@radparenting )? We stumbled upon it last week while looking for an alternative to an audio book or our fave mama, Bey(once'). Scrolling through their episodes we came across this gem of 20 minutes and we have to say, the advice was pretty spot on - without being preachy or condescending. If you have a spare 20 min while doing kid drop off/pick up today, give it a listen and let us know what you think! Link is in the bio!
Looks like we have another friend that's been caught reading "Meet ClaraBelle Blue"! Miss Umi was caught by her mama, reading our book before bedtime! Her mama told us that it's one of her favorite books because she relates to the funny and sweet relationship ClaraBelle Blue has with her own mama! Just another way that ClaraBelle Blue is *just like you*!
Over Christmas break, we FINALLY went to see the movie everyone has been talking about - Wonder. Of course, we didn't heed the warnings and left our box of Kleenex at home. Without spoiling the movie, it got us thinking about friendship and how vital they are to each and every one of us. The coffee mug on the right in this picture states it so clearly - "You are my person". How many of us have that? How many of our kiddos have that? Especially our kiddos that may look or act or communicate a little differently? As we go forward into our weeks, let's remember that everyone needs a person - big or small, young or old, typically abled or with special needs. Remember it for ourselves, instill it in our littles. Happy Monday y'all!
Yesterday we spent the day with some of our favorite people. Emory's BFF Tess accompanied us to @thepolishedbee nail salon to get our nails beautified by the fabulous Katie C (@nailsbykatiec ). It's always a little nerve wracking, wondering if a business can accommodate Em's wheelchair, and understand her speech pattern - however Katie went above and beyond. Not only did Miss Katie help us get the wheelchair in and out of the salon, but she was incredibly patient, sometimes having to paint the same nail 2 or 3 times due to Emory's constant movement/spasticity. She was incredibly kind and sweet to both of the girls, ending the day with hugs, fist bumps, and "love you girls!" It's so nice to know there are people in this world who treat and love our kiddos for who they are - just kiddos!
We are offering a 20% discount to teachers ordering copies of "Meet ClaraBelle Blue" for their classrooms. If you are a teacher and you'd like to take advantage of this discount, message us to get your special "teacher code"! . . . It's no secret - we LOVE teachers..They are the backbone of our communities, our babies caretakers during the day, and sometimes the glue that holds our babies together. Going into classrooms and speaking with students, and having the support for inclusion coming directly from the teachers means the world to us, and this is a way we can say "thank you" for supporting us, our babies, and inclusion.r
Have a kiddo working on their PINCER GRASP that wants to play with a toy like this...or even an @etchasketch_usa ? Here is a super easy way to ADAPT these toys using hair beads and nail glue! . . . *This adaptation ALSO works great for kiddos who struggle with their puncher grasp - they can PUSH the bead knob over with the side of their hand!
